Welcoming Jason Morton
Jason Morton has worked for more than 15 years in education, as a founding high school principal, a turnaround school administrator, teacher, and coach. He is driven by a vision of liberation to empower under-served communities through quality education and economic opportunity. Jason's mission is to use his leadership positions to bring focused educational and economic resources to passionate people, to create self-sustaining communities.
Jason holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Capella University. He is currently in the process of completing his doctoral degree in education. Jason is also a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he proudly serviced our great country.
Jason is a proud father and resident of Columbus, Ohio, where he was born, raised, and educated. He is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and the International Honor Society in Education Kappa Delta Pis. He committed to partnering with community stakeholders to build a support system that ensures “All kids can learn.”
Welcoming Tim Militzer
Tim has more than 20 years of experience working in the operations side of businesses in both small companies and large companies. Tim's expertise in facilities management ranges from from engineering design to operations management. Tim has a passion for leadership and putting systems in place that can allow others to focus on their passions.
A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Tim earned a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree.
Welcoming Markita Roberts
With over 18 years of experience working in alternative education, Markita Roberts, is a true advocate of school choice. Her tenure includes roles as Regional Compliance Manager, Director of Compliance, Data Manager, and her most recent role as state Compliance Manager for Oakmont Education.
Markita is passionate about ensuring schools comply with all regulatory guidelines, rules, and laws. Her ethical and principled leaderships is focused on providing schools with proactive support in identifying, preventing, monitoring, and resolving school compliance issues.
Markita graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in Muncie, IN, where she was also a Division I basketball player. She is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. who commits to promoting the greater good in education, service, and leadership development. Markita is also a member of the Greater Akron Referee Association and has officiated five Ohio High School Basketball State Finals.
Celebrating Black History
Across the Oakmont Education network of schools, students, teachers and leaders took time to recognize and celebrate the tremendous impact that African Americans have had on the social, cultural, and artistic fabric of our country.
Students engaged in class projects, biographical profiles, cultural experiences, artistic performances that deepened their understanding and celebrated the history of Black Americans.
